The majority of us suffer from lower back pain at some point in our lives. If back pain has been present for less than a month, doctors usually refer to it as “acute”, and as “chronic” if the discomfort has continued for longer than this.
The causes of lower back pain include:
- Muscle injury
- Nerve damage
- Bone damage or disease
- Problems with the pelvis, chest and abdomen
Lower back pain is obviously the main symptom. However, others include:
- Leg pain
- Pain worsening with movement and activity
- Numbness or weakness
